The Show Must Go On
Yes I know five years ago I did a previous illustration about Freddie Mercury and Queen, but I want to remake it because I feel older one wasn’t good enough. Also because I want to point you to one of his songs, The Show Must Go On.
Freddie was really sick when they recorded the song. He was so ill that almost can’t walk. Even somebody ask him if he could sing the song, his answer: “I’ll f-cking do it, darling”… and of course he did.
The song was written by Brian May, but I think that it deeply represent a moment in life of someone who has the courage to sing about it’s own death. He died six weeks after the single was released.
Hey guy, the show still goes on, but it’s not the same without you.

Jim Morrison
Here we go again. This time we will talk about Jim Morrison, singer and lyricist of The Doors. He is one of the most iconic men in the rock history, but I want to point you to his poet side. Did you know Morrison improvised poetry while the band was playing live?.
Again I counted the words of all of their lyrics and spread over a well know portrait of Morrison. Bigger is more used. Time to talk about The Rolling Stones. They provocative song lyrics mix perfectly with the life of his iconic band leader, Mick Jagger. I took 294 songs lyrics from the band and counted all the words.

That’s the Text I Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll
ACDC is one of my favorite bands, at least some of his songs will remain in my mind forever. Did you know they have the second highest selling album in history “Back in Black”, behind the Thriller by Michael Jackson. And what can we say about Angus Young… you’re the best man!
For this image I took 156 ACDC lyrics from this site and counted the most used words. As usual the bigger the font is in the image the most it have been used.

I tried to transmit the electric rhythm of his songs by adding dynamic movement to the words. As a result the images are very abstract but I like most of my tryouts, that’s the reason why you can find more than one in this post.
